Renowned ecologist and chairman of the Western Ghats Ecology Expert Panel Madhav Gadgil will visit Aranmula soon to study the environmental implications of the proposed private airport project there. A statement issued by Aranmula Heritage Village Protection Council general convener P.R. Shaji said Mr. Gadgil had accepted the invitation to visit Aranmula during his meeting with council chief patron Kummanam Rajasekharan in Kochi recently. Mr. Gadgil would discuss the environmental issues posed by large-scale conversion of paddy land and wetland for the airport with V.S. Vijayan, former chairman of the State Biodiversity Board, the statement said.Courtesy : The Hindu
